⇣ DETAILS ⇣
These are all things that can be immediately observed about Dearka on first meeting, so you have blanket permission to comment on any of them.VISUAL: Dearka is a pretty straightforwardly masc looking dude with dark brown skin and a solid build. He's pretty obviously fit (but not like, shredded,) and stands at a height that's a little bit taller than average (around 5'10"). His yellow-blonde hair is constantly slicked back with various hair products, although somehow he manages to pull this off without making it look too unpleasantly greasy. If you catch him out in the locker room first thing in morning, or at night right before he sacks out, you may get a rare glimpse of him with his hair worn down and product free. It's natural texture is very wavy and it gives him a sort of endearingly shaggy look. He has warm, grey-purple eyes and overall carries himself with a very casual and relaxed demeanor. The most common facial expression you'll see on him is a low-key smirk. Like... He is just... Usually doing some flavor of smirking.
AURAL: Dearka is voiced by Akira Sasanuma, and... I'm really bad at describing voices but it's very smooth and kinda mellow? Not too low not too gruff. He doesn't really tend to express himself with much range of pitch (another contrast to the highly emotive Yzak), and it's pretty rare to hear him raise his voice outside of intense combat. Sample here.
OLFACTORY: Dearka's generally a pretty clean guy who does bathe and keep himself well groomed regularly. At baseline, people with keener senses of smell will likely pick up on his hair product (he uses a pretty nice gel) and the horse shampoo he picked up at Kaede and Ishmael's recommendation (you get a lot of it for very little money OK??). Though he does try to keep clean, he also does a lot of mechanical work on his big robot and probably low-key smells like various oils and fuel and such... Although his robot runs on nuclear power, so at least he isn't going to stink like petrol???
He also does work out and train pretty frequently, which gets him pretty musky. And it's a guarantee that any time he's operating the Buster, he's going to be emerge from that ripe with boy stink. Hey, YOU try exerting yourself while sitting in a tiny cockpit sometime, see if you come out smelling like a rose. :/
SUPERNATURAL: N/A
GENETIC: His genes are modified! See abilities section for more detail on this.
HABITUAL: Dearka's not exactly a natural born neat freak or anything, however years of being in the military and and living in shared quarters has, by necessity, whipped him into being pretty on top of tidying up after himself. He's a very active guy and can often be found in the gym or in simulation during downtime, working out and getting his combat practice in. When he's not in either of those places he can usually be found out in the hangar working on the Buster or loafing around in common spaces reading vintage magazines (a lot of them have photo-spreads of cute girls in bikinis 🙄). He may occasionally also be spotted in the library poring over books about robotics and engineering. He doesn't often leave base for very long, but he does have a part time job working at an AI repair shop that takes him out into the city on the occasion.
⇣ ABILITIES ⇣
COORDINATOR: As a coordinator, Dearka's got that Turbo DNA which puts his physical and mental capabilities on a completely different level from those of a "natural" human. Coordinators think faster, move faster, learn faster, retain information better, hit harder and can be hit harder than a normal human can. They still have to put in the work to train and learn things the same as anyone else, but it takes less time due to their heightened mental acuity and focus. They also have improved senses (sight/hearing/smell) and are virtually immune to most diseases in their reality. They can catch colds and fevers, but it's incredibly rare for this to happen at all, much less for it to hit them hard enough to matter.SOLDIER:
In addition to his baseline coordie abilities, Dearka is also a soldier who is highly trained and proficient in many combat related skills. These include hand-to-hand combat, knife combat, firearms, and explosives training. He has war experience, having served in two different ones over the past 4~ish years. As a mobile suit pilot he has proficiency in piloting aircraft as well as extensive programming knowledge for making changes to the suit's OS on the fly. He basically knows his way around most vehicles, or can learn and adapt to new ones very quickly.
At Synflux he's been going to the effort to learn more about robotics and mechanical engineering so that he can get good at working with the hardware of a vehicle as well. Back home most warships would have a dedicated engineering crew that would take care of repairs, but out here he wants to be able to rely on his own skills in a pinch if he needs to.
⇣ INVENTORY ⇣
LIGHTNING BUSTER GUNDAM: the personal item Dearka arrived in game with is a shrunken down 10ft tall version of his signature mobile suit. The Buster is an artillery unit, which means it's not particularly agile and it's really designed to hang back to engage in long-distance assault, staying out of reach and providing support fire for allies on the front lines. It currently doesn't have any close quarters/melee combat options, which is something that he's working on fixing after nearly getting his ass killed in Seoul.Due to it's reduced size I've been playing it's design out as being a more squat, thick, kind of "chibified" version of the classic buster. The cockpit is pretty cramped, but he just has to make do :/
⇣ PERMISSIONS ⇣
FOURTHWALLING: Knowing what "Gundams" and all of that are is fine, otherwise please ask first! If you have a really fun/funny idea I might be willing to consider it.MIND-READING: Probably fine but please ask first!
SHIPPING/FLIRTING: I play Dearka as bisexual and well aware of his preferences. (This is not technically canon, Gundam SEED is like turbo straight but this is RP so I can do what I want.) His tastes still generally tend to lean more towards women, but men aren't entirely off the table! He has a little bit of a slut vibe to me and I imagine might be down for some FWB shit, which I am totally open to. Just know that he is secretly carrying a torch for Yzak, and we do have plans for them to hook up eventually. Yzak is mister turbo-monogamy so once they do get over themselves and become a thing for real, Dearka's gonna be off the market. He probably won't stop flirting even then though; he's kind of an obnoxious flirt and is always winking and shit. Also if you're playing a woman he will very probably try to flirt with your character or say something vaguely sexist at some point, I'm sorry, I'm working on getting an opt-in/out for that up but haven't done it yet so. If I tag with something that bothers you, PLEASE don't hesitate to let me know! On the IC side, the good news is he can be told off pretty easily and tends not to push the envelope with that sort of thing once he's given the message, so. Please feel free to have your character verbally kick his ass a little if he says something dumb.
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: He's a pretty touchy/clingy guy, if he likes you you're probably going to be subjected to little playful punches and nudges and shoulder pats and stuff. If he REALLY likes you he might even throw his arm around your shoulder, bro style. It's absolutely A-OK to inflict anything of that level on him in return.
POWER SENSING: Blanket permission, see Abilities.
OOC: I strongly encourage threadjacking on network posts. I live for the bit so I'll probably be down with it on log tags too, just please give a heads up first so both parties involved can give the OK! There might be some situations where it's not preferred, like in more serious threads/moments. I'm usually down to backtag for a while but I may get kind of flustered/struggle with it a bit if it goes too far out of date, it kind of depends on the content of the thread and whether it's more event focused or character focused. It is always OK to give me a poke if you think I've dropped something that you'd really like to finish playing out.
I tend to default to bracket format out of habit but can easily switch to prose if that's preferred. Tags of any length are good, as are threads of any length! I actually REALLY LOVE doing short little micro threads/moments that help flesh out the setting and show off the more casual/understated day-to-day dynamics between characters, so if you ever want to do something brief and silly please hit me up!
My only "let's not go there" topic is animal cruelty, specifically anything that involves dogs. Most other things are OK but of course I reserve the right to put my foot down if something starts making me uncomfortable, and I encourage anyone threading with me to do the same! Please don't be afraid to contact me if something's on your mind, I promise I don't bite.
