I've tried multiple times. There's some sort of magic at play here. That ... or subtle mind manipulation like that shitty desert kaiju had. The servants here are all acting like they've been brainwashed.

That, or they're really good performers.





Or just fucking unhinged.

Those of us who were taken here are safe, though. We can roam the castle as we please, and we're taking the appropriate precautions by sticking together.

We're going to search for more information and try to find means of escape.

I don't know if you're getting these messages. If you are, I'm not getting anything back from you!

However, assuming you're with the others and in a position where you can act, I'll keep sending them if there's even a chance they're going through. Because if they are, maybe something we find in here can help you out there.

I'm basing this assumption on the attendants calling us all "Chosen," so they seem to have only taken us from the village.

I'm sure whatever we were chosen for is going to be complete bullshit!

It'd be nice if it was something good for a change. Chosen for a tea ceremony, a concert, even just an upgrade to some nicer lodgings...

[ Nothing in his voice actually sounds hopeful for any of this. ]

The castle does appear to be cloaked in fog, just like the forests around the village. We could be closer than we think.

[ Something about Yzak's voice seems ... off, Dearka will notice when he finally gets to listen to these. There's a fussiness there with a breathy edge to it - still very clearly Yzak, but he sounds almost tired in a way he rarely does. ]

I had a strange dream last night.

Stranger is that I woke up with an ... affliction of some kind. One that convinces me more and more that we're dealing with magic in some capacity.

The dream felt like a memory, one belonging to someone who used to live here.

[ Used to, he says assuredly. The end of his dream was him being engulfed in flames... ]

But I don't understand the context of the dream or how it could help our situation.

At least, not yet.

Was I hexed or something through a god damned dream!? I swear to god the shit that happens on these missions just keeps getting stupider!

Anyway, my point is not to dismiss any weird dreams if any of you are having them!

And, I'm okay. I feel fucking weird from whatever this is! But I'm not being an idiot about it because I want to get the hell out of here!

There were a lot of skulls around the town, weren't there? Wolven skulls?

They're here, too. And something's wrong with them. They're ... cursed, making some of the others freak the hell out if they stare at them for too long.

One interesting thing we did discover, is that breaking a bunch of them seems to weaken the fog outside the castle.

But be wary. Smashing these things cause what we know to be rift poisoning.

Connections to rifts, clearing the mists ... we seem to have found a key to this whole situation.

So I hope that means reconnecting with the lot of you soon.

[ He still sounds Feverish. But there's a bonus! He also sounds quite flustered now. ]

Don't let any one person break too many of those skulls at once.

Ereshkigal ended up doing that despite our concerns and lost her fucking mind! She started hallucinating and thought she was in love with me!

Not that one needs to hallucinate in order to acknowledge how much of a great and desirable person I am!

She's better now.

But keep that in mind if you're over there planning to do the same!

There's got to be a way to break as many of those skulls as we can with as little side-effects as possible.
