[Dearka's patience is ALSO taking a hit from his lack of sleep, but he fights pretty hard to rein his shit in because he is at least. Aware. That this is kind of a lingering bruise on Yzak's emotional well-being, and one which he doesn't really want to poke at.]
Look, I'm sorry. I'm sure you remember though, there was a hell of a lot we had to catch each other up on after Jachin Due!
[Not to mention the ???? amount of time that may or may not have occurred shortly after, where they were possibly both in military prison????]
Cagalli being in Africa felt a lot less urgent to tell you about compared to like, our former commander being a secret clone.
And yet, he remembers. More than just those things. And this all opened up a couple of old specific wounds, so despite how dumb it is it still stings to have to deal with out of nowhere. ]
Alright, then I don't really know what else you want me to say other than "sorry"? Which I already did. Twice. Three times now, if you count this message.
[True to his word, it doesn't take long for Dearka to make his way there. He pulls up next to Yzak to join him in staring at the beasts, though his eyes also flit sidelong a few times to glance at his partner's face.]
...Man, those really are some weird fuckin' animals, huh?
[ At least by the time Dearka gets out there, Yzak's chilled out a little bit so the aura in the air is less tense. He's still cranky and sulky of course, it's Yzak, but,
As a space boy, there's a near childlike wonder as he stares at one of these camels that has wandered over a little closer. He sends a quick look of acknowledgement back to Dearka when he joins him, but ... camel.
Dearka says weird, but: ]
They're amazing. I've never seen one outside of photos, much less up this close. I didn't know they were this big.
[Dearka hums. The camels are interesting but he's not quite as enthralled by them as Yzak seems to be.]
Me neither... Makes sense though, they gotta be big enough to ride, right?
[Actually, Yzak is more what Dearka's enthralled by, at the moment, now that he's seeing him in person again, and they're done snipping at each other over the internet. The obvious wonder he has looking at these freaky desert horses is super endearing, actually.
He quietly reaches over and slips an arm around Yzak's shoulders, pulling him up against his side and giving him a little squeeze.]
They've got some crazy eyelash game, too... Nowhere close to rivaling yours, though.
At least for me, because I've got plenty of experience with horseback.
[ Brag, brag, brag. But also, that's Yzak's way of saying that he wants to ride one...
Thankfully they won't all have to be around their mobile suits at all times during the stay here. Yzak hates the desert and the sand, but it looks like he's finally found something that would make a trek out a lot more tolerable.
Will Yzak ever get over that fluttering feeling whenever Dearka makes even the lightest of romantic gestures like this? Probably not! But perhaps that's a good thing for both of them. Yzak doesn't hate it, and Dearka is likely tickled by the way he feels Yzak react every time; the small pause of surprise, his eyes blinking open just a little wider, the glance he sends his way...
Only with that remark, that glance quickly transforms into a look of great insult. ]
Did you just compare me to a camel?
[ He looks back to the creature in question, now properly taking in the way its eyes look.
...
And he visibly settles, because damn, Dearka's making a point. ]
[He is tickled, every single goddamn time. Except in this case that fondness is interrupted when he bursts out laughing at the brief look of insult on Yzak's face, letting go of his shoulder just long enough to give him a hearty slap on the back before squeezing him again.]
[Dearka snickers breathily and then reaches to brush Yzak's hair out of the way, so he can lean in and steal a quick peck on the cheek.]
I would never compare any other part of you to a camel. Promise. [A pause. And then he says more seriously:] And... Sorry for not mentioning any of that shit before. I really didn't mean to.
[Lest they forget the actual reason why he wandered out here...]
[ Ugh, why's he gotta have this much rizz when it counts... though it's the genuineness of it that actually affects him more. ]
... it's fine. Just like I told Athrun, I can let it slide this time as long as you don't forget again! And if I can give that guy a pass then of course you get one too.
[ He does. And topped off with that smile ... not just as warm but just as bright as the sun so he can hardly look at it for too long lest he feel his affection for this corny yet charming man ignite and start to burn. ]
Hmph. Take pride in that! Because you're beating him in something that matters a hell of a lot more than any contest or rank.
[ Having his heart is clearly the most important and most coveted thing in the world, in comparison. And not something he would just bestow onto anyone. ]

And maybe he's just a touch more sensitive than usual about everything because he hasn't slept. ]
You and everyone else!
It just
Would have been nice to know!!

[yeesh. this is so awkward???
There's a slight delay before the next message:]
Do you... Want me to come find you...?
[which is basically stupid boy code for "do you need company/want me to come love on you?"]
no subject
You make it sound like I'm hiding.
... do what you want.
[ Likewise stupid boy code for "yes but I'm upset and I'm worse than usual at emotions and admitting things when I am." ]

Despite his own cranky sleep-deprived mood, Dearka musters the energy and wherewithal to reply like a good little bark-bark boyfriend:]
What I want is to come see you. So, tell me where you are.
no subject
If I'm in that room or sitting down, I'm bound to fall asleep at this rate.
[ He feels a small thump in his chest when Dearka puts it like that; what I want is to come see you.
Is he near the camels because he's fuckin awed by seeing them up close? Yes. As will be clear in his expression when Dearka arrives. ]
no subject
Just a sec.
[True to his word, it doesn't take long for Dearka to make his way there. He pulls up next to Yzak to join him in staring at the beasts, though his eyes also flit sidelong a few times to glance at his partner's face.]

You're just lucky I know what you meant by that! Because look at the rest of that thing! Comparisons could easily be taken as insults!

Heh. [He smiles, warm as the Egyptian sun.] Thanks. Nice to know I can beat Athrun at something.
[That's... A bad joke, but hopefully Yzak will appreciate it anyway.]
